Dower and Wilson have been working together since 1988 and this performance emerged out of their regular and open-ended percussion experiments.
Much influenced by the example of artist-percussionist Paul Burwell, ‘Break it down’ takes the idea of improvisation in music, applying it to visual practice, meanwhile taking the concept of ‘truth to material’ in the visual arts and applying it to music.

Previous performances have taken place at Wapping pumping station London (Drum Duet), Delfina Studio Trust London (Audio Addicted), The Ikon Gallery Birmingham (20 pieces of silver) and the Golden Palace restuarant, Hull.
Break it down was reviewed in The Wire issue 267 (May 2006). A limited edition DVD was produced by Timothy Taylor Gallery.
